    Description: Open Playing Day

The work for study on this day will be Nielsen's 3rd symphony, "Sinfonia Espansiva" -  unique in his symphonic output for having vocal parts, specifically wordless solos for soprano and baritone in the second movement. Our soloists will be Faye Bowness (soprano) and Russell Irwin (baritone.)

This is  an opportunity for players who relish the idea of spending a day on this challenging work under the baton of our guest conductor for November's concert, Helen Harrison, culminating in a play-through.
Open to members and non-members, we hope to have a very full orchestra to do this magnificent work justice!
Perhaps this is a piece you have always wanted to play.... Maybe you played a long time ago.... Maybe think you might want to join the orchestra but aren't sure if you're good enough....  Come and enjoy yourself with us for this musical adventure!

We keep a list of interested "guest players" for this and similar events. If you registered for our summer sessions, even if you didn't attend, you are already on the list!  If you're new to us, register here to join the list of "guest players"
Everyone on the "guest players" list will be sent an email inviting you to book for the day.

Cost for the day will be £20 per player (concessions are available) - students in full-time education free; if you're aged 16 and under, a responsible adult must be present.
